Operation could not be completed (Internal error) is a Google server issue
If you have seen this error message, you are not alone. This is a problem with the Google docs servers. As it turns out, this is an error that is happening to a small percentage of users of a number of applications that use the Google docs API servers, not just gogoDocs. Some files that are not “normal” Google docs, those files uploaded using Google’s relatively new feature of being able to upload any file, will suddenly and consistently trip this error. One thing you can try is to remove any files you might have uploaded to Google docs around the time that this error cropped – up. If you do find a specific file that causes it, do PLEASE (!) let us know what kind of file it is as it seems that it only happens to a small number of accounts and a small number of files.
The engineers at Google are much more likely to find the problem if we are able to give them more information about it. See here, here, and here and star the issues and/or add any information you are able to find to the comments thereof. The more stars an issue gets the more attention and higher priority it gets from the Google engineers.

Hi,
we are just experiencing the issue with one of our users.
The user has an external account (Zimbra) linked to a google account and trying to share the doc with a user into the google apps domain.
the document is an excel spreadsheet imported into Google doc.
I suggested her to recreate the doc into Google, I guess it’ll work…
